This game deserves more than three thoughts. Iona and Manhattan battled for 40 minutes doing what each of them do best. In the end though A.J. English just did it a little bit better. Continue reading “Three Thoughts: Iona 70, Manhattan 67”
Another Siyani Chambers Game-Winner Leads Harvard Over Columbia
Harvard point guard Siyani Chambers is best known for his clutch shots. There was the short floater to beat Boston University in just his seventh college game. There was the layup against Dartmouth later that year to cap a 10-point comeback and force overtime, and the last-minute three-point play against Columbia to take the lead for good. And last year, his pull-up jumper was a dagger to Cincinnati in the NCAA tournament. Continue reading “Another Siyani Chambers Game-Winner Leads Harvard Over Columbia”
Three Thoughts: Quinnipiac 60, Fairfield 59 (A Bill Carmody Sighting)
Bill Carmody stood in his purple shirt Friday night at Webster Bank Arena and he could have been transported to Northwestern a few years back or maybe even Princeton a few years before that. He’s been out of the game for a couple of years now since being fired by Northwestern. He never did get the Wildcats where he got Princeton twice, the NCAA Tournament, even though he was there 13 seasons.

St. Francis Brooklyn Clear NEC Favorite, Finally Its Time?
“Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things.” – Andy Dufresne
Hope does spring eternal and all that, but many times rather than fully being allowed to blossom, we temper it, knowing that it may be a false alarm, a mirage, a ruse designed to play to our emotions before cruelly disappearing like a Snapchat photo (is supposed to at least).
With another rather convincing 83-66 win over Staten Island rival Wagner (its second in five days), St. Francis Brooklyn has cemented itself as the clear favorite in the NEC as we head down the homestretch. The Terriers have won 17 of 21 games, now have a two-game lead on the rest of the field (with an 11-2 NEC record), currently hold the tiebreaker on the nearest competitor Bryant, and have their next three games as heavy favorites at home.
