That was fun. The Northeast Conference quarterfinals were everything the league had hoped they would be: competitive, riveting, and in some cases, shocking. The Battle of Brooklyn didn’t live up to the hype, but the remaining slate of games had plenty of tense moments deep in their second halves. Even Central Connecticut was a Joe Hugley three-pointer away from cutting the Wagner advantage to four points with over a minute remaining. The Most Dynamic Playmakers of the NEC
When Darian Anderson’s colliegiate career ended due to foot surgery on Monday, it robbed the Northeast Conference of one’s of its best guards. Anderson was instrumental, check that essential, in guiding Fairleigh Dickinson to their first NCAA tournament berth in more than a decade. His uncanny ability to create offense for himself and his teammates, as well as make clutch shot after clutch shot, was a critical reason the 2015-16 Knights made it to Dayton. Notes/Observations from NEC Social Media Day
I’m officially six for six in attending the NEC Social Media Day at the Barclays Center. There’s a reason I’m always there in attendance – it’s a great event that’s well run by the league office and unique in that there’s exclusive access to all ten head coaches. There’s no other event that comes close to acquiring as much information in the league as this one.
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak candidly with nine of the leauge’s 10 coaches (sorry, Derek Kellogg) and get their reactions to how their respective preseasons have gone.
