Hofstra easily dispatched the Wagner Seawhawks on Sunday, by a 93-71 margin, thanks to plenty of key performances. Here are three thoughts from the Pride’s third victory on the season and their best start to a season since 2008-09.
Three Thoughts: Columbia 70, Wagner 56
After a last-second loss to Stony Brook to start the season Columbia welcomed Wagner to Levien Gymnasium on Tuesday night. The Lions were still without a number of key players due to injury and went almost 10.5 minutes in the second half without a field goal, but managed to pull out a 14-point victory over an inexperienced Wagner squad. NEC Recap – November 14, The Opening Night
With eight NEC programs beginning their 2014-15 season tonight, we summarized all of the opening night action. Going in, it wasn’t expected to be a strong night for the conference — according to KenPom, five of the eight teams were overwhelming underdogs (10% chance to win or less) with only Robert Morris considered as a moderate favorite (70%) over Lafayette. 10,000 Sims NEC 2014-15 Edition
The top of Ken Pomeroy’s NEC projections make a ton of sense. Robert Morris and St. Francis Brooklyn are considered the class of the NEC and there they are at the top of the standings, though a little lower than the league would probably like at 177th and 198th respectively.
