There’s a dirty little secret in the NEC. The 12-team league means that not everyone plays two games against every opponent each season. The unbalanced schedule makes it extra important to look at the path teams will take through the league when predicting the final standings.

Two big pieces of information leaked today. First of all, LIU Brooklyn has reinstated the four suspended basketball players and suspended each of them two games apiece according to a report from Zach Braziller.

Veteran NEC could be tough for gutted LIU
A report yesterday from the New York Post sure made things sound a little bleak for the four suspended student-athletes at LIU Brooklyn. If those four players are expelled or suspended indefinitely then the Blackbirds could be in big trouble.

LIU Brooklyn’s Worst Case Scenario
Four LIU players have been indefinitely suspended. We don’t know many details at this point about what “indefinitely” means or what will come to pass, but what if the worst case scenario occurred and all four had to miss the 2012-13 season? Where would the Blackbirds end up?
Four LIU Brooklyn Players Suspended
Four LIU Brooklyn players have been arrested and charged with assault stemming from a fight last Friday night. NEC Player of the Year Julian Boyd, Jamal Olasewere, Troy Joseph and C.J. Garner are all also suspended indefinitely. All four of those players were set to play a key role in the LIU rotation this season, but their status is now in doubt.
