Three Thoughts: Quinnipiac 60, Fairfield 59 (A Bill Carmody Sighting)
Bill Carmody stood in his purple shirt Friday night at Webster Bank Arena and he could have been transported to Northwestern a few years back or maybe even Princeton a few years before that. He’s been out of the game for a couple of years now since being fired by Northwestern. He never did get the Wildcats where he got Princeton twice, the NCAA Tournament, even though he was there 13 seasons.
He came damn close, though, with four straight NIT appearances at one point, and his 1-3-1 and Princeton offenses gave more talented teams fits, although Carmody never did quite get enough talent to Chicago to get them over the NCAA hump.

With Zaid Hearst Leading The Way, Here Comes Quinnipiac
For all intents and purposes, the game was over. Quinnipiac led by double digits and time was not only a factor, it precluded a Manhattan comeback with only 90 seconds left.
But as Manhattan sharpshooter Shane Richards ran off screens, Zaid Hearst was still with him every step of the way, just as he had been for the first 38 minutes of the game. Richards finally got one last good look when Hearst decided to switch with James Ford, but it rimmed out and Richards – who had scored 22, 21, and 21 in his last three games – put up a goose egg as Quinnipiac climbed back to .500 in the MAAC with an impressive 73-59 national television victory at the TD Bank Center Friday night.

Can Monmouth (Or Anyone) Stay With Iona In MAAC Race?
After burying Quinnipiac in a barrage of second half three-pointers Tuesday night at the Hynes Center, the assembled media grilled consensus MAAC favorite Iona about the pressure of being the league leader. David Laury did his best to dance around the loaded questions, and showed his veteran leadership by being tremendously diplomatic.
“We definitely have a chance to establish ourselves, but this is the MAAC,” Laury said. “This conference is a great conference. On any given night, anyone could lose. You can’t just say it’s Iona and everyone else in the conference, there’s great teams in the conference.”
