Intra-city rivalries took center stage this week. The NEC was quite circular – St. Francis beat Wagner, Wagner beat LIU Brooklyn, while Iona grabbed the upper hand in its rivalry against Manhattan. Re-calibrating Our Preseason Predictions

The season is merely two weeks old, yet we know far more about some teams then we did back in October. Informed prognostication certainly has its value, but the stark truth is no one – including most coaching staffs – knows how Team A will respond outside the confines of its practice court. It’s nearly impossible to predict how newcomers will adjust to a new environment.

St. Francis Brooklyn Brings In Athletic Reinforcements

A few times last season St. Francis Brooklyn did the unthinkable – played zone defense. The Terriers have hung their hat on tough, man-to-man defense during head coach Glenn Braica’s tenure, but due to injuries and personnel SFC was forced to occasionally play zone defenses in hopes of slowing down the NEC’s high-powered offenses.
