The Quinnipiac Bobcats (5-2, 1-0 MAAC) defeated their in-state rival Fairfield Stags (1-7, 0-1 MAAC) 83-79 Friday night in their first contest as members of the MAAC. Each of the four previous meetings between Boston University and Quinnipiac had been decided by a margin of fewer than seven points, and Monday evening’s contest followed suit. In a back and forth affair which saw 13 ties and 12 lead changes, the score was knotted at 66 with 0:17 to play when D.J. Irving dribbled down the court and hit a 3-point jumper with just three seconds remaining to lift the Terriers over the Bobcats 69-66 at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, CT. Quinnipiac eclipsed the century mark for the first time in the Tom Moore era as they routed the Maine Black Bears 102-61 Monday night.
