As the season goes on New York City has apparently realized there’s something to play for. St. John’s, Iona, Manhattan, Wagner, Stony Brook, St. Francis Brooklyn, Quinnipiac and more are competing for a league title and competing hard. It makes these weekly awards even more difficult. An excellent problem to have. Continue reading “Big Apple Buckets Weekly Awards: Feb. 17”

Using Roland Ratings to Determine Team MVPs
I don’t believe in +/- too much at the collegiate level, but sometimes derivative statistics can provide some interesting jumping off points. One of those is +/- for lineups. Checking out Columbia’s plus/minus
I was reading Princeton Basketball and catching up on the Tigers when I came across his post about Princeton’s plus/minus numbers through the first 10 games of the season. That has forced Kyle Smith to change up some of the things he intended to do, but on Saturday against Manhattan his team finally broke through for its first victory of the season, 59-41.
