Three weeks ago the Robert Morris season was thrown into turmoil. Four players were suspended, including some key contributors. It looks like the first place Colonials were just hanging on by a thread until one of the other challengers was ready to replace RMU atop the NEC standings. A weird thing happened on the way to an NEC championship, the tempo-free metrics and standings decided to agree. Yeah, I know it’s weird. Robert Morris’ blowout of St. Francis Brooklyn has pushed the Colonials to the top. Continue reading “Tempo-Free NEC: We Agree Now”
NEC Simulations: LIU Fighting For Its Life
There are just three weeks left in the NEC season. I don’t know about you, but this makes me a little wistful. There are still a ton of important games though. Teams are jockeying for position and for home NEC tournament games. A few teams are fighting just to make it into the tournament. Continue reading “NEC Simulations: LIU Fighting For Its Life”
NEC Roundup: Feb. 8
I’ve given in. Robert Morris is the best team in the NEC. I don’t care that they’re playing with eight players. They’re just that good right now. Bryant though is working hard to try and stay in shouting distance, just in case the Colonials slip up. The problem? The Bulldogs’ only two losses are to RMU. The rest of the league? What a mess. There are now three teams tied for third at 6-4 after another wild Saturday.

We’re halfway through the NEC regular season and if you’ve been paying attention to our weekly updates to the tempo-free NEC you know that even though Robert Morris is 7-1, we’ve not quite sold on the Colonials yet. NEC Roundup – January 30th
Robert Morris is desperately trying to sneak away from the pack. The Colonials got all the breaks they needed to take a commanding two-game lead in the conference and have all the other contenders fade away. Of course as that was going on, the race for the critical third and fourth seeds in the league standings (and the seventh and eighth seeds) heated up. Continue reading “NEC Roundup – January 30th”
NEC Trade Value – The First Edition
Every once in a while we like to have fun here at Big Apple Buckets. It doesn’t always have to be “make fun of Jon Rothstein’s optimism until he blocks me on Twitter” kind of fun, but more like the “well this doesn’t make a ton of sense” kind of fun. This time, please allow me to channel my inner Bill Simmons. Continue reading “NEC Trade Value – The First Edition”
