A-10 Afternoon Session: Davidson 67, La Salle 66; VCU 70, Richmond 67
Even Bob McKillop, who was a heartbeat away from the Final Four in 2008, can’t believe the run his Davidson team is on these days. The Wildcats graduated all-everything guard De’Mon Brooks after last season and were making the quantum leap from the Southern Conference (a league that Wofford has beaten them in three of the last five seasons) to the Atlantic-10, full of VCUs and Daytons and George Washingtons.
Yet they rolled through the regular season, seemingly getting stronger as they went (even while dealing with an injury to starting guard Jack Gibbs), winning their final nine regular-season games and miraculously winning the A-10 regular season title after being picked 12th.
