Will Brown called Saturday’s Albany practice “the worst of the season” and said he was extremely concerned how his team would react against UMBC Sunday afternoon.
Sam Rowley added, “I think that’s the source of our success is our bench. It goes beyond just the games. At practice, as Coach was saying, those guys took it to us starters at practice, and there’s no excuses for the starting five feeling sorry for themselves, and if you rest or take it easy, they’re going to beat you. Having them making us better every day in practice has been huge for us.”

Three Thoughts: Albany 62, Hartford 53
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, and Albany just may be the team to beat in America East with or without Peter Hooley.
For the second time in four days, the Great Danes went on the road against a team picked above them in the preseason conference coaches’ poll and systematically took them apart, this time a 62-53 win over Hartford Thursday night at Chase Family Arena, in which the host Hawks (11-8, 4-2) led only once and that was 3-2.
Albany Loss Hurts For Stony Brook, But It’s Not March Yet
It was de ja vu all over again for Stony Brook fans Monday night, many of whom were in approximately the same seat (albeit a much nicer one since Stony Brook Arena has been refurbished and rebranded as Island Federal Credit Union Arena) three years ago as the Seawolves’ shooting aim inexplicably disappeared at the worst possible time, shooting just 4-19 from behind the arc and 17-58 from the field as Vermont came in and took the America East title, 51-43.
