Three Questions – Iona
As the season approaches every team has questions. This series is going to look at three key ones.
1. How does the late addition of Lamont “Momo” Jones impact team chemistry? – Iona is getting a number of new additions to the roster this season, including Arizona transfer Jones, who was granted a hardship waiver by the NCAA. But Jones isn’t the only player the Gaels add to their roster. Ra’Shad James also will need to find some minutes. Here’s the thing, 76.8 percent of Iona’s offensive possession minutes return, including the two big usage guys – Mike Glover and Scott Machado.
Coming & Going Iona – Getting stronger
Let’s make this clear from the start, whether Lamont “Momo” Jones is eligible or not this season this recruiting class is a win from Tim Cluess and Iona. It’s a sure declaration of, “We’re going for it,” from the coaching staff. The incoming recruits should add some bulk to the front line of the Gaels as they attempt to claim a MAAC title and do so much more.
Scouting Taaj Ridley at Nike Pro City
Incoming Iona recruit Taaj Ridley was on the court for the Uptowners vs. Prime Time at Nike Pro City at Baruch College on Thursday. The 6’7 wing from the Bronx showed some of the skills that will help him with the Gaels next season and some places where his game still needs to develop.
