Tonight is a big night for college basketball in around New York City. I’ll be at the Jimmy V. Classic watching Missouri vs. Villanova and Marquette vs. Washington from Madison Square Garden, but you can catch action in Staten Island, Newark and Morningside Heights tonight. Memory of LIU game drives Wagner to big victory

Wagner crushed St. Francis (NY) to get its first NEC victory of the season and in the process started to wash away the bad memories from a close loss to Long Island in the conference opener. The Seahawks blitzed the Terriers for a 90-50 victory on Saturday night at the Spiro Athletics Center.

Thursday Round Up: LIU wins conference opener

The opening of NEC and MAAC play on Thursday night meant that there were a lot of games played by NYC area schools, even if sometimes they were playing each other. St. Francis (NY), St. Peter’s and Long Island all came out winners for the evening.

NEC opens play tonight

Conference play starts early this week as a number of schools get their feet wet with a little action. The NEC opens play tonight with a full slate of six games pitting teams against conference opponents. The headliner is defending champion Long Island hosting Wagner. Saturday Round Up: Hofstra gets big win

Saturday was a busy day in college basketball. Besides Columbia’s win over Manhattan, full coverage of which you can find below, there were five other games on the schedule. Hofstra got the biggest win of the day, a 63-53 victory over Cleveland State, but there were some other good wins as well.

Season Snapshot: Wagner

It’d be hard to categorize Wagner’s early season start as anything but a success. The Seahawks are 4-1, with the lone loss being to Connecticut. In the process they’ve defeated Princeton, Penn, Lafayette and North Carolina Central. Only one of those games was at home too, making the challenge all that more difficult.
