I wrote an article for College Basketball Prospectus 2012-13 that built off of Luke Winn’s work around up-transfers. My research found that the “average” up-transfer had his tempo-free numbers change pretty significantly. Continue reading “Looking Back on Up-Transfers”

Three Bold Horizon League Predictions
The 2013-14 season in the Horizon League promises to be one of transition. Loyola (IL) has left for the Missouri Valley Conference and Oakland has joined from the Summit League. Three Bold(ish) Predictions for the WAC
People do funny things during the college basketball off season. My personal quest for college basketball understanding took me to the WAC this weekend. NBA Draft History and Mid-Majors
The NBA Draft is tonight! I took a brief look at the NBA Draft from 2000-09 on my sports analysis Tumblr. I did a quick logistic regression and found that early draft picks are much more valuable. But I’ve highlighted a few that appear in the Top 25. Continue reading “NBA Draft History and Mid-Majors”
Four Factors Analysis
Now that college basketball season is over it’s a great time to look at some of the data it generated this past season. One of the places I started was looking at the four factors. What does the data tell us about how college basketball is played?
Variance and Luck
Continue my ongoing series on luck in college basketball. Does variance in play cause a team to be “lucky” or “unlucky” nope. Want to see proof? Look at the graph after the jump.
