It might have been the final game at Pritchard Gymnasium before Stony Brook moves into their $21.1 million renovated arena, but senior Dave Coley was not going to let it be a loss. Continue reading “Stony Brook 73, Albany 68”

Five Thoughts: New Hampshire 73, Stony Brook 69
The Vermont Catamounts find themselves alone in first place in the America East on a day that John Becker said earlier in the week would be an off day. New Hampshire 73, Stony Brook 69
New Hampshire made 14 three-pointers, none more important than freshman Daniel Dion’s form the left wing with 14.7 seconds left to give the Wildcats a 73-69 victory over Stony Brook on Saturday at Pritchard Gym.
The victory ends Stony Brook’s 23-game home win streak against America East opponents. The Seawolves last loss at home was to Boston University on February 4, 2011 in conference play. Continue reading “New Hampshire 73, Stony Brook 69”

Five Thoughts: Stony Brook 67, Vermont 64
Much like John’s famous five thoughts, I’ll borrow from him for five postgame thoughts on Stony Brook’s 67-64 victory over Vermont on ESPNU late Friday night. Watching Vermont for the first time in person, after picking them first in the America East for the ESPN Insider season preview, this national TV game was great to make some evaluations on both teams. Stony Brook 67, Vermont 64
In a battle of the top two America East teams, the Stony Brook Seawolves never trailed to the Vermont Catamounts, though they came awfully close.
Vermont closed the deficit to three twice late, but clutch plays by the Seawolves pushed them to 6-0 in conference play with a 67-64 victory Friday night under a sold out crowd of 1,630 at Pritchard Gym on national television. Continue reading “Stony Brook 67, Vermont 64”
