Two MAAC teams used their Thanksgiving break to play at neutral sites, Marist at the Old Spice Classic in Orlando and Rider at for the Hoops for Hope Classic. Continue reading “Marist, Rider take to Neutral Sites in November”

Preview: The Battle of the Bronx
The Battle of the Bronx is tomorrow night and it should be a good game between Manhattan and Fordham. The Rams are going to be without Chris Gaston after knee surgery, but there always seems to be a little bit of magic at Rose Hill. Jaden Daly is back to answer questions about Fordham prior to the match up. I also some for him about Manhattan.
MAAC Teams Take to the Road in late November
MAAC teams have been playing plenty of road and neutral site games during the past two weeks. Siena and Iona traveled long distances to play three games in four days. Siena went to San Diego and Iona went to St. Thomas for the Paradise Jam. While Canisius, off to their best start since 2000-01, went out to the road for the first time Saturday at Stony Brook. Lots of Awards to Hand Out
NYC area mid-majors had a relatively strong week and it was represented today as leagues handed out weekly awards and many of their players were amongst the honorees. Here is a quick rundown of all the honors that were garnered.
MAAC Weekly Recap: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
We’re into the third week into college basketball season and Ryan Peters is having so much fun with The Good, The Bad and The Ugly weekly recaps for the NEC I wanted my own gig. I’m going to be doing this weekly now for the wide-open MAAC. How wide open is the league? As of Sunday morning Pomeroy projected all 10 MAAC teams between 7 and 12 conference wins. Stony Brook Hangs on for 82-75 Win Over Canisius
Stony Brook looked to make a statement against Canisius, after Sacred Heart snapped their 15-game home win streak last weekend. The Seawolves got out in front early and withstood a late Golden Griffins run for an 82-75 victory. Continue reading “Stony Brook Hangs on for 82-75 Win Over Canisius”
Beamon’s Back To Lead Manhattan
Welcome back George Beamon.
Preview: UIC vs. Iona
The Paradise Jam tournament has already been quite eventful for Iona. The Gaels lost a heart breaking game to Quinnipiac and then shellacked Wake Forest. Now Iona will take on UIC at 5 p.m. It’s been a while since I covered the Flames in Chicago, so I asked Horizon League Hoops’ Chris Burrows to answer some questions to get ready for the game.
Lewis rebounds with big game against Columbia
Chavaughn Lewis struggled in Marist’s first two games as the Red Foxes stumbled to 0-2 out of the gate, but against Columbia on Saturday night all of the facets of the 6’5″ swingman’s game were on display. The Queens native scored a game-high 19 points and helped carry Marist to a 67-62 victory.

MAAC Big Winner on Mid-Major Saturday
When Andy Glockner picked the MAAC as in the nation during preseason, I was quite surprised. Yes, the league has depth, but that’s a pretty lofty projection. While one of the conference favorites, Manhattan, has struggled without George Beamon, six of the MAAC’s 10 members were in action yesterday and they were all victorious.
