Fordham rebounds against GW for second A-10 win
After two 40-point losses on the road, Fordham needed some good news. The Rams got it with a 63-58 win over George Washington at Rose Hill Gym on Saturday afternoon. With the win Fordham improved to 9-11 overall and 2-5 in the Atlantic 10.

Fordham struggling in A-10 play
Whether its the fact that Atlantic 10 teams have seen this before, the schedule has been difficult, the legs are giving out or something else altogether entirely this much is clear – Devon McMillan, Bryan Smith and Branden Frazier are struggling shooting the ball in conference play. After Wednesday night’s 102-58 loss to Richmond the three of them have combined to shoot over 50% just once in conference play (McMillan was 4-7 against Rhode Island).
Saturday Round Up: Columbia and Hofstra get first conference wins
Columbia got its first Ivy League victory over the season over Cornell and Hofstra defeated James Madison on the road to score its first CAA victory as New York area teams had a solid day of games on a busy Saturday. Besides the two NEC games on the slate, five other teams were in action and four of them came away victorious.

Stony Brook an AE contender and random variance
Wednesday provided three illustrations of different ways to win and lose basketball games. Stony Brook delivered a crushing blow to UMBC, 89-49. Fordham was on the other side in an 80-62 loss to Saint Joseph’s and Hofstra lost a heartbreaker to Northeastern 64-62 to fall to 0-5 in CAA play.

Fordham needs to avoid droughts tonight
When Fordham takes on St. Joseph’s tonight in Philadelphia the Rams need to concentrate on playing a strong for all 40 minutes. While Tom Pecora’s team has been competitive in the majority of its games this season, Fordham has let games get away due to big runs at inopportune times. In most of the losses (with the exception of Syracuse), there’s a definable moment at which the young Rams dug themselves into a hole they’d struggle the rest of the game to get out.
Five thoughts from Fordham’s 67-59 loss to Xavier
In front of a sold out crowd at Rose Hill Fordham battled for 40 minutes, but eventually fell 67-59 to Xavier. “We can’t be satisfied with playing a team like this close,” said Fordham head coach Tom Pecora afterwards. “We’re not about coming close. We’re about winning games.”

SGOTW: Xavier at Fordham
This week’s Saturday Game of the Week takes us to Rose Hill where Fordham has had a lot of success lately. The Rams have won three straight home games against Texas State, Georgia Tech and Harvard. While they lost a tough one at Massachusetts on Thursday, it served as reminder to the Atlantic 10 that Tom Pecora’s squad should be competitive in the conference this season, even if they are really young. Competitive is nice, but wins are better and that’s the opportunity that the reeling Musketeers coming to Rose Hill presents. If Fordham can pull off the upset (and to be clear, it would certainly still be an upset) the Rams will have another quality win under their belt, and maybe have another New York Times feature on the way.
Both sides of the luck coin
There were seven games played by New York City area teams on Thursday night. St. Francis (NY) beat Quinnipiac 73-72 as Stefan Perunicic hit the game-tying layup, and game-winning free throw. Perunicic also scored his 1,000th point in the victory. Manhattan lost a real tough one to swallow as Dylon Cormier hit a three in the left corner on Loyola’s final possession in the Greyhounds’ 61-60 victory.
NY Power Poll: Starting the New Year right
A new year means a new power poll. What it doesn’t mean though is new rankings. The top four have stayed exactly the same since last time, even though both Seton Hall and Iona suffered losses during that period. Of course SHU followed it up by beating Connecticut and the Gaels absolutely crushed Siena at MSG. So it’s justified. There was some movement further down the poll, where one team has started to make its move upwards.
