Last night, prior to the start of the college basketball season today, we conducted our fifth annual NEC fantasy draft. The NEC league is a favorite of our NYC Buckets writers. Ryan Peters is the defending champion. It’s a head-to-head weekly league that this season scores players in points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, turnovers, three-pointers, and free throws.
A few teams were auto-drafted last night, but everyone (hopefully) pre-ranked or attended the draft. Here’s who was selected in our eight-round snake draft. (Non-NYC Buckets writers are identified just by their team name, but feel free to claim your team on Twitter.) Note: These teams are in draft order. (I had the first pick overall and then didn’t select again until the turn at 20 and 21.)

Wagner had the most players drafted with 10, while four teams had seven players drafted (Sacred Heart, Robert Morris, Mount St. Mary’s, Fairleigh Dickinson). It’s not surprising that the Mount and RMU were among the schools with the fewest players drafted considering the current flux of their rotations and the lack of information available about them. Two other teams had nine playeres drafted: NEC favorite Saint Francis U. and last season’s 10th place finisher St. Francis Brooklyn. The Terriers certainly have a lot of options and Glenn Braica isn’t afraid to play with lineups.
