This Week In MAAC GIFs: Jan. 11

Iona, Monmouth and Rider are atop the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings at 4-1, with Manhattan a half game back. The first full week of 2015 saw plenty of great plays, let’s look back on the week in MAAC in animated form.

Canisius went 1-1 on a road swing in downstate, which included plays like this from Phil Valenti to help bring the Golden Griffins to a lead they wouldn’t let go in the second half.

Siena walk-on Jimmy Merrill scored his first career points against Niagara when he threw down this two-hand jam against Niagara.

Ousmane Drame has been coming off the bench for Quinnipiac, but he has still managed to perform well, which includes this dunk against Monmouth.

Monmouth senior Max DiLeo makes the crucial mistake late, on his third free throw down he tries to rush it and get the ball back. However, the ball did not hit the rim before he left the free throw line and the refs waved off his attempt as a lane violation.

Iona needed a clutch three from Isaiah Williams to take the lead by three on Canisius in the game’s final two minutes, but it was this one from A.J. English that gave the Gaels enough distance from the Golden Griffins.

Manhattan sophomore Jermaine Lawrence, who scored a season-high 11 points on Saturday against Niagara, throws down an alley-oop off a pass from Rich Williams.

Fairfield managed to beat Siena on the road thanks to Marcus Gilbert’s game-high 23 points.
