The writers have spoken and Manhattan is still No. 1. Despite an impressive week from St. John’s that included two Big East victories the Jaspers stayed atop the poll by a single point. The full results are below.
NYC Area Power Poll (all teams within 75 miles of NYC in NY/CT/NJ are eligible):
- Manhattan (3 first place votes) – 54 points
- St. John’s (2) – 53 points
- Princeton – 41 points
- Stony Brook – 37 points
- Iona (1) – 36 points
- Quinnipiac – 35 points
- Columbia – 30 points
- Seton Hall – 22 points
- Fairleigh Dickinson – 11 points
- Army – 5 points

I’m not quite sure what Columbia has to do to get some respect around here! The Lions are 2-0 in the Ivy League (granted the wins were both over Cornell), but can’t seem to crack the top five. Look out for surging Iona. The Gaels and Jaspers meet on Friday night in a game that could certainly shake up the Power Poll. Actually, Friday night, which also happens to be the start of the Friday-Saturday Ivy League slate, could shake up a lot in this poll. We’ll see how Princeton and Columbia do during those grueling back-to-back nights.
