Quick Previews for Black Friday

Everything is moving quick because it’s Black Friday. I’m going to be at Madison Square Garden to check out Syracuse, but Stony Brook and Hofstra are getting the long holiday weekend started off right.

Stony Brook at Northwestern – 1 p.m. ET:

Alright, I admit it. I should’ve done more for this game, considering I covered the Wildcats for the past three seasons in Chicago. Northwestern lives and dies by its offense, but surprisingly the defense has been pretty good this season as well. John Shurna is one of the most efficient scorers in the country, but early this season Drew Crawford has proven he’s going to make an impact. Northwestern’s weakness is the center position and Stony Brook might find some success with Al Rapier and Dallis Joyner inside. Ken Pomeroy has the Seawolves with about a 10% chance of victory. It’s probably a little higher than that because Welsh-Ryan will probably be dead the day after Thanksgiving, but this is certainly a difficult challenge for SBU.

Hofstra at Rhode Island – 5 p.m. ET:

Even though this game is part of the TicketCity Legends Classic, it is the first home game of the season for the Rams. It should be a great one too. These two teams appear to come in pretty evenly matched. The home court advantage should help URI, but the Pride played Oregon State tough after a cross-country trip, so going up to Rhode Island should be a breeze. I checked both Accuscore and Pomeroy on this one and they both agree that it’s about a 40% chance for Hofstra to pull the slight upset.
