A Bleacher Report article worth reading

I tweeted about this over the weekend (and you should follow my account), but this article on Bleacher Report about the Top 30 Mid-Major Players at every position for 2011-12 is actually pretty insightful. The ranks of the New York area players are after the jump.

Players:

  • Scott Machado, Iona – point guard #6
  • Julian Boyd, Long Island – small forward #30
  • Mike Glover, Iona – power forward #2

A few other notes:

  • I think that Ray McCallum of Detroit will be one of the Top 5 point guards (if that’s really his position) in all of NCAA Division I next season, so he’s a little underrated at #9 in the list.
  • At #30 in the small forwards list Boyd is certainly underrated. His conference mate Ken Horton is also underrated at #19 on the small forward list. Those two will make a big difference in the NEC next season.
  • Fairfield has three players on three different lists in the post. Just another justification of the strength of the lineup for the Stags next season.

Is there a player you think got left out? Drop a note in the comments. And oddly enough the author, Todd Hawkins, lists former Hofstra and now Golden State Warrior Charles Jenkins as one of his favorite players. So go check it out.
